Help me find a 17' LCD

Hey guys, just got some much needed moola, and thought i'd look into an LCD display. What's the cheapest 17' LCD out there for gaming, that has a DVI connector? And links would be much appreciated 🙂 If we could keep this under $425, that would be stellar.

BenQ FP767 or Samsung 173T are both pretty good. The FP-767-12 and Samsung 172X are newer and have lower response times, however.

Jiffy, I just bought the Samsung 710t which is my first experience with lcd. Is there any way for me to improve the text display? I'm getting a fair bit of reds, greens, blues on the edges of my black type. Is this what they mean by tracking or convergence problems? I'm using OS X which has its own SyncMaster driver.

You're not going to be able to get a 17inch LCD w/ a <=16ms refresh rate AND DVI for 425. My best suggestion would be to buy the Samsung 172x (12ms DVI, very stylish)

if you are really aiming for teh 400ish range. get a 17inch lcd w/ 16ms or less w/ analog. i have a Sony SDM-S73, which has a very nice 16ms refresh rate and the analog doesn't slow it down too much.

so basically, you can't get a 17inch DVI monitor w/ a decent refresh rate unless you're gonna shell out 500+

I dont know why you must want a DVI input. It's overhyped. My Acer is analog and it display very sharp text. In fact it has very little to no difference from the dell 2001FP that I used.

I just recently got the Iiyama Prolite E-431S. I'd have to say i'm pretty happy with it. I can game just fine (from MMO's to FPS like UT 2k4). It's also got a DVI and VGA input. I dont use the speakers so i cant say how good or bad they are. The difference b/w DVI and Analog input will vary depending on which video card you have. I have an ATI and Nvidia card, and with the ATI, the image quality on both ports are excellent, while on the nvidia, there is a very noticeable difference b/w the DVI and Analog ports.

I purchased the sony S74 B a few weeks ago. I can say this thing is definately fast enough to play any of the current games.

Very fast even with grey to grey transitions.

No noticible ghosting (and I am very picking about this) I also like its footprint.

The drawbacks all tend to be related to the base as it does not extend, nore swivel from left to right.

Nice ass screen though. Mine came with no dead pixels.
