Hotwire usually has Venetian/Palazzo/Wynn/Encore/Aria for around $100-$150/night. Try betterbidding to figure out which hotel it is.

I always try to find the cheapest room at a "name" hotel on the strip. I put most of my budget into shows and food/booze. If you're in Vegas for fun, you won't need the room that much anyway. You should be able to get a nice room for under $100. I got NYNY for $89 per night over Valentine's weekend through Priceline.

if you're in vegas for fun with a member of the opposite sex then a nice room is important

The Venetian by a mile an a half. It's the most romantic of all the Vegas hotels, has bigger better rooms, and has the best poker room in Vegas, period.

Also, if you plan on sexing up the wife, make sure to take her to Cirque du Soleil Zoomanity, over at NY NY.

Here is the best site for all your Vegas questions.

Palazzo > Venetian. It's 10 years newer (ok a little less), but I'd pick a newer hotel with newer rooms. The layout is all the same, but considering the Palazzo opened in 2009, my experience has been the rooms are *slightly* nicer.

Credentials: I go there all too often. It's always Venetian/Palazzo because of the nice Hotwire deals and the fact that the pullout couch lets you sleep 6 people in a suite comfortably.

Now these are 4.5 stars IMO. They're not super luxurious. I'd pick Wynn/Encore if you want really good suites. Encore is bigger with 650 sq ft rooms.

All other hotels give you tiny rooms like the Cosmo and Aria. I really like the suites that Palazzo/Venetian/Wynn/Encore give. It's much larger.

Edit:

Check Hotwire for deals. 5 star Strip North (without kitchenette) = Palazzo/Wynn/Encore/Venetian
5 star strip south with kitchenette or without casino = VDara
5 star strip south w/ casino = Aria.

:) Happy hunting.

I'd go for the Aria. It's got the best atmosphere and a ton of high-end shopping.

Also an awesome poker room, if you're into that :)

Why not more love for the Mandarin? The Mandarin is a great place to stay and is close to Aria/Belagio/Paris/etc.

Mandarin has to have the best overall hotel experience and not having a Casino keeps some of the people you don't want around, away.

Venetian is nice but the Bellagio is the best on the strip.
Heard great things about the Wynn, Cosmopolitan, and Aria but haven't personally stayed at any of them.

Disregard what I said about The Flamingo sorry had the wrong hotel.

This for the Tropicana:
From my research they were the worst one's on the strip BUT that was before they remodeled from top to bottom. From what I was reading they were so bad with bed bugs, the staff was very rude and all rooms were run down. Last year in March when I was there they were in the middle of remodeling and people were say everything changed. The staff has been over hulled and goes out of their way to make the experience much better. The rooms now have the newest flat screen TV's and all bran new beds and furniture. The Tropicana was coming up as one of the cheapest to stay at. I was getting like $30 to $40 a room on weekdays and 80 on the weekends. So if you are looking for cheap and a decent room then Flamingo is the way to go. They also seem to have the best pools. The biggest problem with the Tropicana is that it is towards then end of the strip so walking could be bad but the T station is close by. I would recommend them now if you wanted a cheaper stay.

Circus Circus!

Noooo! That place is a dump! The layout was annoying as well... I had to walk through 2 casinos to get to my hotel room when I stayed there for the first, last, and ONLY time.

I stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club the second time, and the Wynn the third time. Both of those were awesome. The Hilton GVC is interesting, since it doesn't have a Casino, and all of their rooms are suites with a kitchen and a hottub in the room.

So this summer my Wife is turning 30 years old... For her birthday, I'm taking her on a trip to Las Vegas since she's never been there. So I'm thinking 5-star hotel for sure (She's picky about hotels) and I'm stuck between staying at the Bellagio or the Venetian. Has anyone stayed in either one recently? Is there another hotel to consider? She's not going to gamble much, and I'll be mostly playing Blackjack and maybe Poker.

Bellagio is nice...Aria is nice...MGM Grand is nice...

Veneitian is cool...

If you want to be a baller Stay at the Comso... hands down blows away everything there IMO

I like Mirage because I am right next to all the hotels...

Oh I forgot about the cosmo. I actually like the Cosmo as well.

The penis wallpaper in the suites is exceptional.

I've stayed at a Shitload of Vegas Hotels. I really enjoyed Signature by MGM But it is VERY far from the best part of the strip. I loved the Pallazo, the room was wonderful and very clean. The BEST was the Four Season ( On top of Mandalay Bay ) But man it is alot of $$$$

I've not stayed in either the Bellagio or the Venetian, but my GF is a huge fan of the Bellagio. I can personally vouch for the Encore though.
