Help me do some market research =)

So i'm thinking about starting a business and was curious as to what the current state of the market is. So here a couple questions about chosen purchases (ie non-necessatities: ...food...gas...rent...etc).

1.) What was the last thing you purchased? (Where did you purchase it)
2.) What is the next thing you plan on purchasing? (Where do you think you'll purchase it)

These answers can be specfic or vague (however specfic is better). So the way I would answer is:

1.) Laser printer (Local Newsgroup)
2.) Laptop (Ebay)

well i was just curious as to what people were buying and where they were buying it from. Because often times I would like to go to store and buy stuff that I can only get online.
