I either have a failing hard drive, power supply or Motherboard or OS......or a combination of these things.
My system started crashing yesterday , by crashing I mean it was as if I hit restart.
I recovered my system to an earlier date in case it was something I downloaded and reflashed the bios because boot up began acting funny as well.
Now when I boot the machine up I get:
"Warning: Immediatly back up your data and replace your Hard disc drive, a failure may be imminant"
I ran western digital's diagnostic software and I got
raw read error value 1, thresh 51 worst 1
(see my other post "how do I know my HD is failing")
>>>>>>>>>
Next I downloaded Asus Probe and was getting wierd results...
the +12v was like 13.5 ...also the Vcore was 1.85 , mine is set at 1.75...in the MB Bios everything is perfect but not using the probe.
I manually checked the +12 and it was 12.4V
Also Asusprobe is claiming that my CPU fan is not turning sometimes...I have used this ulility before and I have never had this happen. The MB is an A7V266 with the latest BIOS and an Athlon XP2000+.
Next I downloaded your tool , it is reporting the +12 at 12.5 and the -12 at 12.6-14.2 or so.
It also reports the Core at 1.85v
Everything else seems ok.
So now it could be that the failing hard drive is making everything act up. It could also be the OS and it could also be the PS or MB.
I have triple checked the OS for viruses and etc and have found nothing out of the ordinary. I have had this system for about a year so I know it well ...nothing has changed in quite a long time except I just put a 2000+ in it about 2 weeks ago.
Is a 2000+ supposed to have 1.84V to it?
Over the last few weeks I have noticed a few minor things....1 I have had several downloads lock up on me and 2 my shut down time has slowed down some.
When the system crashed yesterday a few times it was during some downloads.
The fact that my bios and Western Digital's tools both say my HD is going bad I have to think it must be the HD....however I have been screwed over before and ended up replacing more parts than I had to.
I would like to replace only what is needed not everything.
In the past I have sworn up and down my HD was failing and had it be something stupid.
I would appreciate some help here.
