:(

Hi

I need your help, I was playing football today (soccer) when I sprinted and stopped and changed direction, I felt a twang sensation and I couldn?t walk on my right leg.

The pain hurts when I bend my knee around at the back and at the side, I have used my web cam to take pics. I have put a hot water bottle over my knee to get the ligaments warm and then I try and stretch them ( had something similar to this a few years ago and I had to get treatment, so I?m going off what I can remember)

I?m feeling quite depressed as I recent started a interval training programme to help me get myself to peak fitness, and now things are looking grim

Here are the pics

Any help would be massively appreciated ( I cant really afford to get private medical care) NHS waiting list is about 11 months.

Cheers

For a torn ligament. You can be really screwed up if you don't get that treated right. Are you in Canada?

England

You need to do what you can to get that seen. I find it hard to believe that they would make you wait 11 months but I guess I'll take your word for it. It is pretty much impossible to make a diagnosis over the internet. Do you have any doctor family friends or any other options?

Probably a torn ligament.

I had Osgood-Schlatter when I was younger and it hurt like hell for a good amount of time. Its a possibility if your younger. Not sure how old you are.

I can't really see from the pictures but can you bend your knee? Does it hurt to move your knee laterally? Raise your leg and try to move lower leg left and right, holding your upper leg fixed. If this hurts you could have a torn MCL - not so bad, stopping would be hard but you should be able to walk. You would need to get that repaired eventually.

If it hurts to bend your knee but the latteral movement is ok, then you could have a torn ACL or a partially torn ACL. This is a major injury that could require an immediate surgery.

P.S. I'm not a doctor so take my word with a grain of salt.

Looks like you might've sprained it. Had that happen to me several times playing football (american :)). If that's the case you should feel better in 2-3 days. I still suggest you try to see a doctor though.

Probably a bad case of butt rot with pain transference. An alcohol enema should clear that right up.

Sounds like you tore or at least slightly damaged your ACL. Don't be tricked by thinking you feel better in a couple of days...which you should feel better...just go see a doc!
