Just for poops and giggles, I want to destroy my jumpdrive. I am going to copy and paste a story from a previous thread.
I bought this 128mb jumpdrive from wallyworld almost a year ago. I used to keep it on my keychain.
So I was at this party, drinking heavly, partying hard. When it came time to go home, we decided we were in no shape to drive, so we started walking. Somewhere I lost my keychain with the jumpdrive on it. There was about 2 feet of snow on the ground at the time. And there my keychain lay, in the snow for over 2 months. It got snowed on, ran over and frozen. One day, someone noticed this keychain, and seeing the keys on it reconised that it belonged to someone at the college. So they returned it. The office checked the numbers on the keys and gave it back to me.
When I got the keys back, the drive was soaked. I was able to shake water out of it. I hung it up to dry, and it was dripping! So after a few hours, when I figured it was dry I plugged it into the computer. Sure enough, ALL of my data was intact! The keys on the chain were rusted! The ring had so much rust on it that I broke it with my hands. But the drive still worked.
Today, I washed it through the washer and dryer on accident. I found it in the bottom of the dryer and I was thinking, this has to be the end of this drive. But, I just plugged it in and it works fine, and all of my data is good!
Earlier, me and a friend took the casing off and were rubbing it on the carpet, hard. We stuck a magnet to it, but I know that won't effect it as it is a flash drive. It still works.
There are some rules for future destruction techniques.
1. I dont want to physically destroy it. I know it won't work if I take a hammer to it and bang the crap out of it
2. I don't want to plug it in while it is wet, as I am afraid it may harm some of my other components.
After that, it's all fair in love and war
