LTHBP4BK15C306B --- P4 3.06GHz 512M DDR/ 40G/ ATI 64M/ DVD&CDRW/ 15LCD $1,399.00

of course slight variations are acceptable.

Would a 3GHz drain battery appreciably faster? Would it really be worth it to have a DVD RW? Is 3 GHz overkill for a 64 MB 9000 Mobility? Should I get a gig of DDR instead of 512?

This is gonna be for college, basic office work and some digital editing and gaming.

For me, I'd nix the DVD-RW and go with the 2.4. I may be talking out of my arse, as I haven't done much reading on the video chipset, but I think there is only so much "making up" the CPU can do. IE, you could have a 500ghz machine, but if you're running it thru a cirrus logic 512k vid card, still gonna get 1fps on Q3.

Don't get me wrong tho, if $$ were no object (self note to check last nights lotto #'s), i'd go full out. but save the DVD-RW, go for the 2.4, get an xtra battery maybe and more ram. Do buy the ram after-market tho from crucial or something. Usually cheaper.

If you don't know whether you need a DVD burner or not, you might as well go with the combo (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) drive... That's just my opinion though.

I just checked gericom, an austrian computer place and they seem so have laptops with the 9600 mobility should I perhaps wait for this?
