Well first off I have a Diamond MX300 which the drivers lick and I cant use it in 2k pro

Next I might be able to get a SoundBlaster LIve Platinum (not the 5.1)

So should I get the Platinum for 99 bucks???
Will it run in 2kpro
what does it come with??
Is it that much better than the mx300

Please give me a few pointers here, thanks
also to give you an idea, I love to play games, watch movies, and do some mixing every now and then. So maybe that will help too.

The 3D sound effects of the MX300 are better than those available with any other chip(s). Unfortunately the drivers have not been updated for Win 2K in all respects.

On the other hand, Win 98 is generally considered to be more "gamer friendly" than Win 2K.

I'll just tell you, there is no platinum live for 99 bucks... it's the xgamer and the mp3+ as for differences between the xgamer, mp3+ and platinum cards; there are none. The cards are IDENTICAL, the only differences are the software packages, and the SBLIVE! Platinum comes with the Live Drive...
The SBLive!'s work perfectly fine w/ win2k. I'm running an sblive with win2k with no problems.
