my living room is approximately 14ftx14ft... problem is that there isn't a 'wall' to hang the tv on.. and it sucks being in the corner... I might as well have gotten a dlp or something... right now it's sitting on my old 36 inch wega stand in the corner..

It 'seems' like it would be too high up if I put it on top of the fireplace... opinions? The top of the fireplace is 53 inches off of the floor. That doesn't even get into where I'd put my receiver and xbox (I use the xbox 360 as a media center extender so it does double duty as a dvd player until hddvd players come down in price)

I thought about putting the tv to the right of the fireplace, then flipping the couch around so it was against the window... but I thought the tv would look wierd like on the edge of the wall at the corner

In the trunk of my car. :D Nice TV!

I hate fireplaces in living rooms; they steal all the good space. It looks like you turned what was probably intended to be a home office area into a living room. Isn't there a "proper" living room downstairs?

I don't understand what the talk about "he should've gotten DLP" is for.

They are just different technologies; for this room, it would make no diff. NOW, if you were to suggest a front projector in this room, that would be diff. I.E. a bad idea due to all the ambient light.

I think he did just fine with his choice of a plasma.

ps
I think it's fine in the corner. You have your surround sound arranged nicely. I would be happy with that setup.

Ok, some real advice here...

Don't put it over the fireplace. It looks cool and everything for about the first fifteen minutes of viewing, after which you'll have a neck ache so bad you'll think twice before you turn on your TV again.

Don't put it anywhere facing the window, or any other directl light source. Plasmas are about the worst sets for handling light reflection (the tradeoff is you'll never suffer any of the dreaded silk-screen effect).

Place the TV so the center of the screen will be at your seated eye level.

From what I see, that corner is about the best place for it-- you are somewhat limited by the location of your fireplace and windows.

Noob, everybody knows you're suppose to superglue plasma TVs to the window.
