Help Me Decide what to get? PSX 2 or GC?

I think I'm gonna buy one of those new fangled consoles, and I don't know which to get?

I like PS2 because:
most games
been hacked
dvd player (not a big issue, but still)

I like GC because
less expensive
Mario and Zelda (sometime)
a little more powerful??

Basically, I'd like either system, but am not sure which way to go? HELP ME DECIDE!

I WON'T be buying an X-Box, and I don't want this to become a console bashing thread, because basically, they all rule.

I always have been and always will be a N-guy, but quite honestly, after you see the games they have lined up at E3 and Spaceworld, you'll be glad to have a GC for the next year. at least.

I mean, Sony has great games coming out for it as well, but I don't think any of it will compare with the Nintendo games. But if you're gonna be one of those people that'll hate a game cuz it looks "childish", then by all means, go with the PS2

I'm one of those guys whos bothered by the fact that a large percentage of the stuff that nintendo comes up with is "childish." I'd get a ps2.

I have both of them and they are both great systems. PS2 just got a big price drop too. What it really comes down to is which one has the most games that you want to play.

The GC seems to be comming with some decent titles soon. I would definately go that way.

I have 2 PS2's in the house right now, and they both are collecting dust. Their games are ok, sometimes there's a hit, most of the time, the games are total crap.
I have no intentions of buying a Xbox.
The GameCube graphics are definately alot nicer than the PS2.

That's what I would use as my determining criteria. Which console sells the games that I like the most?

I would seriously reconsider about not buying the xbox. The prices for both the ps2 and xbox are the same, but the xbox versions of the games are better than the ps2. PS2 has more games but it's got the worst graphics/audio compared to xbox and game cube.

Game cube has so few games but it might do better with some of their new releases. If it doesn't, it's going to fail like the n64 did. It's already lagging so far behind the ps2 and the xbox in overall sales.

I guess, if you had the choice...get the ps2 if you don't have a dvd player. If you do, then get the gamecube.

I have a GameCube personally and am a Nintendo fan so I would say GameCube... Resident Evil for that little system is absolutely amazing. But PS2, if you don't have the hardware for it, has Grand Theft Auto 3. I love that game. PS2 right now has plenty of good games for it while GameCube will be getting it's good games in quite a short time (Metroid, Mario, Star Fox Adventures, Zelda, Eternal Darkness, Resident Evil 0, etc... mmmm...). So, it all depends what you want (and don't give in to that kiddie nonsense, Nintendo games may look kiddie but their gameplay is mature).

I have made my purchase. Even though PS2 won the vote, the people who made good arguements for GC (and a pro GC Best Buy salesman) won out. I bought:

GC
S-video adapter
mem card
rogue leader
resident evil
Sega NBA 2002

Arrgh, but I am disciplined enough that I won't play it until I beat Jedi Knight II on my PC. Arrgh!

Good choice, I have both and notice the PS2 tends to sit idle unless I play GTA3. Everbody likes the Cube better.

I have a PS2 and a GameCube... I enjoy the Cube more.
