Help me decide what to buy: Television or LCD monitor for gaming?

Hey guys,

I don't have the budget for a high end television, and I was thinking of getting a refurbished tube television for a hundred bucks for console gaming.

I'm wondering if I should spend say $200 max on a 27" tv (refurb or not high end brand) or if I should spend a bit more and get a 20"+ LCD monitor. Budget is a major issue, I'm a student and I don't really care about HD or anything, just need something to play on.

Can you even hook up a console directly to a monitor, or does it have to go through a PC? Any thoughts?

Get the TV buddy ;( ... try seeing if you could get something really good used tv from trading post. If you have something like trading post newspaper like we do in Australia.
