I think Moto is finally changing it's stance on locked bootloaders with Google at the helm. Didn't they release a general unlocking tool for recent phones? Sucks that it doesn't work for older models but it should get much better going forward once google's had time to actually handle the reins there for a bit.

This is correct. Last I checked though, they only have one of their models on the list that you can do this with. Have an older phone? Tough. Not on the list? Tough. Your phone has a legitimate hardware issue not brought on from your tinkering? Forget your warranty!

I wouldn't have such a sick up my bum about moto if they would just stop pretending they're apple. They don't have that kind of clout, and if they did, they'de just be assholes for leveraging it...

I currently have a Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean, the phone has been great but I'm getting bored. I'm on Verizon & am debating my choices.

1. Get the SG III
2. Consider a new iPhone
3. Wait for the new Nexus
4. Wait to see if Verizon get the Galaxy Note 2

Which option would you chose?

What are you looking for in a phone? It's difficult to make a recommendation without more information. If you generally like Android or are invested in the ecosystem I'd probably recommend getting the Galaxy S III, or if you're really not in need of an update, the next Nexus phone.

The new iPhone is certainly nice, but you'd be going to a much smaller screen, and a lot of people seem to dislike going back to a smaller screen. If you're even considering a Note, it would seem that you like larger screens, so the iPhone might not be for you.
