Ok, recently, I've been looking for a laptop for my mother, and in the process started looking at Dell's new XPS. Now, I'm debating selling my current desktop and getting it intead (for myself, not my mom).

Here's what I have now:

A64 3200+ @ 2.5Ghz
1 GB PC3200
6800GT

So the performance is roughly even with the XPS.

Some other things to note:

The portability isn't a need, but its a definite plus.
Battery life isn't an issue (obviously since I'm considering a DTR)
Tired of upgrading, but at the same time can't resist it (and need to limit it cause its getting expensive)
Pricing should be about even once I sell the other stuff I have that I didn't list (Raptor, performance RAM, etc.).
I do not need a laptop, but wanna try something different.

What do you people think. Let me know anything and everything about the pros and cons of making the trade (I know most of them, but I know there's more that I haven't considered since I've never had a laptop).

I have a desktop and a laptop. I find the desktop to be musch easier and more comfrotable to use. Typically I only use my laptop when I am travelling otherwise it is in its bag by the door.

You do not need to constantly upgrade your computer. Your current desktop should last you for years

My opinion is that you should NOT trade in your desktop for a laptop, especially if it's only going to be a desktop replacement.

However your post has SUPERMARKET CHECKOUT IMPULSE BUY written all over it. When I want tacos, I go eat myself some tacos, you know? (I'm fat!)

If you do decide to trade in your computer, can I get dibs on the raptor(s)? PM me.
