Help me decide how to upgrade my memory.

I have 2x512 Corsair ValueSelect DDR400 right now, but I need some more memory to keep BF2 from hitching. It used to only do it in the beginning, but if the map changes, my memory fills up and the game becomes barely playable even though I get > 50fps @ 1680x1050, high details, 4xAA/4xAF.

Should I add another 2x512, 1x512, or sell my 2x512 and buy 2x1024 (this would be a hassle)? I'm worried that anything other than 2x1024 will hurt performance (or is this fear unjustified?).

I'm leaning towards adding 1x512 because it will be cheap and easy, but if that wont help much in BF2/hurts performance a lot, I'll go with one of the other options. Adding 2x512 will be easy, but not as cheap. Selling my 2x512 and buying 2x1024 will be neither cheap nor easy.

System specs:

Asus A8N-E
A64 3200+ Venice
2x512 Corsair VS
BFG 7800GTX OC
74gb Raptor

Use your current 1GB kit in another PC

Get a 2GB kit of OCZ EL Platinum PC3200, 2-3-2-5 @ DDR400.

You could go with four sticks of 512MB, but the 2GB kit will be more effective.
If you do go with four sticks, it will be slightly slower than the 2GB kit depending on timings.
If the timings and speed are the same, you should notice a 3-5% difference between 2 sticks of 1GB and four sticks of 512MB.

$265.95 + Whatever cr@p they charge.
$3.83 Fed-Ex Saver Shipping

= Slightly costly, but some very good stuff.

~Other option = 2GB of Corsair Value Select
- Cheap, but it's 2GB

I'd go with the Corsair VS at that point. The $200 differential between that memory and what I'd get for mine is too much for me :(

I was told 3 sticks wasn't possible with the Athlon 64 S939. Regardless, I say the last one.
