I have about 400 bucks to spend.
I want a top notch MB/CPU combo.
I'm thinking socket 9?? ??
I'm a 64 bit noob but came into some extra cash.
I would like a setup that will allow me to upgrade the CPU later and still use my present ram VGA card.
Thanks guys.

OK so top notch is WAY out of my league... mid notch like the best MB and a lesser CPU?

Hi Jerome,

Sounds like a skt 939, that's got the cpu upgrade path. You can put your DC ram to good use in one of those too. Skt 754 doesn't do DC.

I'm just curious how long the AGP form will be available.

Cogratulations on the windfall and moving into the 64 bit world. I wish I could join you. The OCing rules are different (ex. no need to run cpu/ram insync), so maybe you can write a guide for us us 32 bit peeps? We gotta switch sometime. 😉

I don't think it's worth it. If you get a 3500+ the performance boost over your current system will probably be lower than 10%.

Maybe the 3500 at stock vs his OC'ed XP, but if he OC's the 64, then it will make a big difference.
