I actually already have "two" HIS HD3870's running in Crossfire atm.

When I saw the new HD3870x2 hit the market... I got kinda excited and put my "two" HIS 3870's on Ebay to seel so I could buy "one" HD3870x2.

However, after reading soem of the reviews concerning driver issues, DDR3 vs DDR4, power consuption, etc... I am not sure if it would be a good idea now.

Anyway, I am asking for soem opinions from people who might have a little more ensite, knowledge, opinions, etc.... to help me decide if I should keep the HIS cards on Ebay and seel them to get the new X2 or just keep the HIS cards.

Any input would be appreciated...

depends on your future possible upgrade path ... 3870x2 in crossfire would be awesome
-IF they can get it to work

me? ... i'd see what i can get for them on ebay if i was in your situation

and i decided against 3870x2 for myself ... preferring to crossfire my old 2900xt with a cheap new [$145] 2900p [poor man's Xfire] until the next ... next ... new architecture Video card release
--actually, i am setting it up today ... :p

My 2 cents.

I also have 2x3870's in Crossfire and was excited about the X2. I have had the 2x3870's since they came out , and just now do I have Crossfire working with most my games.
I really don't want to go through the trial and error of getting it to work with all my games again. I do realize that it will probably be more compatible than Crossfire, and it is only seen as one card , but they still have said that it will take driver profiles to work with all games.

I am going to wait a few months and see what R700 and G100 bring to the table. I am still wishing I would have bought an 8800 series instead of my 2900XT when they came out. Ati has done a good thing by bringing the X2 out , but I still find it disheartening that they still have no single gpu contender for the enthusiast.

x2 , requires less expensive board. more room for your pci slots. you can run it on an nvidia chipset if your headed that way.

I have 2x3870's in CF right now & I like it...Smooth as silk for what I do & the games I play & it was pretty easy to set up...

If they can get 2x3870X2's to work, that would be awesome too...

I will admit most of my problems with Crossfire was with XP32. Now that I have switched to Vista64 most of my games work with Crossfire.

if you can break out even on the 2x3870 vs the 3870x2 then it would be tough to say no. otherwise just keep what you have and be happy :)
