It's me again, the guy who wanted the Subaru WRX except can't get one because PARENTS won't let him.. :-(

Well, i have to choose between a Acura TSX(AUTO) or a ACcord V6 Coupe (auto). I can't decide which one i like more. Both cost around the same price, so this isn't a big issue. Actually, TSX might cost $1,000 more, but no biggie.

I can't decide between these two cars and I'm hoping you guys can decide for me seeing how I haven't even test driven either of these cars.

Both cars are refined and luxurious... Both are new models... TSX has drive-by-wire, while Accord has that raw power of 240HP on a V6.

Which one boys?
EDIT:
Whoops, forgot to mention... ACURA TSX is an AUTO too.
And it has to be a AUTO because my parents want to drive it as well. :-(

Yeah, why does it have to be an auto on the Accord? They come with 6-speeds...

That said, I saw a TSX today and it was sweet. Better looking than the Accord IMO.

while i will say to go for a manual, the v6 engine is nice. i'd get the accord with satellite nav.

even tho the accord has more hp than the tsx, you can't all base it on hp. all the hp crap is marketing at its best. they use that huge number to attract people who don't know much about cars. that number is the hp generated at the engine, but you lose hp through the drivetrain to the wheels. the hp at the wheels is the most important. these test are called dyno's and you can do a search on google for dyno's of both cars. i believe that the accord dyno is 193 (that's a loss of almost 50 hp) while the tsx dyno is 175 (which is a loss of 25 hp). in general, the accord may have more hp at the wheel, but please don't buy the car just b/c it have more hp. you're just another victim who has been caught up in the marketing department. then there's the whole other debate of hp vs torque.

i really like the tsx. i'm thinking about getting one myself. i really think that the interior of the tsx is much much much better than the accord. go sit in the accord first and then sit in the tsx... you'll know exactly what i'm talking about. the built quality is much better as its made in japan while the accord is made here. the accord may have the raw power that you can use on straight aways, but when you throw in handling into the equation, the tsx outperforms the accord b/c the tsx is made to have better suspension than the accord. i've test driven both, so i'm not just pulling it out of my butt.

hopefully this has helped you not to become a victim of advertising/marketing at its best. if you have any questions about the car, feel free to PM.

I'd be upset if I had to choose between 2 Honda cars too.

Get a Mazda 6s instead.

I guess then you're going with the EX trim level on the accord? about 23k invoice. How much is the TSX invoice? You should be able to come close to the invoice price on the accord.

IMO, i wouldn't get a mazda. its a ford... also, in terms of resale value, honda/acura will do much better than mazda.

but if i had to choose between the mazda6 and the tsx, i would pick the tsx b/c of the higher resale value. think about it, you'll prolly pay $23k for the mazda6 and pay $27k for the tsx. you might be paying more right now, but you'll prolly get more for your money if you ever needed to resell your car. so all in all, you'll prolly just end up selling your tsx for $4k more than the mazda6.

also, going back into the dyno tests about the mazda6, the 6 has a dyno of 177-180hp. so very equivalent in the hp at the wheels between the mazda6 and the tsx. the mazda does have more torque (15 lbft), but that's expected out of a v6 compared to the tsx's i4. so now you're left to consider gas mileage. obviously the v6 will less fuel efficient compared to the i4, so another bonus for the tsx.

and yes... do get a manual. much faster...

tsx w/o navi = ~$24,500
tsx w/ navi = ~$26,000

TSX is over priced for what it comes with
it's a Euro Accord.. why would you pay upwards of 30k for it ?

Stick with the Accord V6

Btw they're all FWD ... if you want something sporty hit up a RWD driving machine.

Forget the TSX and the Accord;)

RSX Type-S ALL THE WAY bra. Same engine as the TSX, but lighter (i.e. faster) and cheaper. Take that $10K you save from those other two and put a turbo in the Type S and then you'll be really rockin':D

I have a Type-S (nah really?) and it's an awesome car.

Personally, I don't care about resale value. I don't buy cars with the thought of selling them in the near future. If I didn't plan on keeping my cars for a while, I'd care more about resale value.

And my parents, my wife, and I have owned a total of 7 Mazdas or Fords with very few problems. In fact, out of all the sports cars I've ever driven, my miata was the most fun (although seriously underpowered). Mazda seems to know how to make sporty cars more fun than anyone else.

They DONT have the same engine. RSX is 2L and TSX is 2.4L.

I had an RSX last year ... and now I have an 03 Accord. I would take the Accord every time.
