OK I am new at this so I need someone to hold my hand. I've got a E6400 and a P5W DH Deluxe. If it over clocks to something around 2.6-2.8 I'll be very very happy. So far I am using a stock cooler, but will probably buy something better at some point.

So what do I do?

I would suggest you just use the auto OC feature and OC it 5-10% untill you read and learned some more about how to do it manually.

Ok just to let you guys know, I've got my E6400 at 2.48 and plan to hit 2.8 and will be happy.

Just regarding RAM, the timings I can mess with later right? It won't affect the overclock right? Also I had my RAM installed in DDR2 positions but whenever I try to overclock it only detects ONE RAM in single channel. As soon as I revert to original settings things are normal again. Can anyone help?

Also here are the settings so far. If anyone has any suggestions or corrections, do let me know. Thanks:

Voltage 1.280
Core Speed: 2.486
Bus Speed: 310 Mhz
Rated FSB: 1241

Thanks in advance.

Better holding your finger than pulling it. :Q

What speed RAM do you have?

To get 2.8GHz you need a FSB ov 350MHz. I'd say try that first without boosting any voltages. If it runs stable, you're done. If it runs, but is not stable, then you need to find out if it is CPU or RAM holding you back, by running stuff like Memtest and Prime. Then, boost the appropriate voltage. If it doesn't run at all at that speed, then start by lowering the RAM multiplier and increasing latency.
