Help me complete my gaming rig

I already have a case (Antec Sonata II - 450 PSU), ATI AIW X800 XT, 1 gig (2x512) of Corsair Value PC3200, and 160 gig Seagate 7200. Along with a NEC 3520 and a liteon cdrw.

But I am still undecided about which motherboard and CPU to go with. although, the Athlon 64 3500+ Venice 1GHz FSB Socket 939 and the ASUS A8V DELUXE seem to be a good combination?

ASUS A8V DELUXE</a>

So what do you think? I'm upgrading from a XP 2400+, and ECS k7s5a. My budget is around $350-$400. And since I'm holding off on a sound card, I'm hoping to get a board with decent onboard sound. Although, I do have a SBlive value to fall back on if necessary. I'll also need AGP. I don't plan to overclock.

Is venice the core to go with if I want a 939 + 3500+? What are the differences between Venice, clawhammer, Winchester, etc.? I noticed they're all around the same price at newegg. This is where my head starts spinning.

All advice is appreciated!

If you like Asus, get their Nvidia NForce 4 chipset board. I also like the DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D.

Thanks, but I checked and it doesn't look like any of the NForce 4 chipsets support AGP. unless i'm missing them?

Anyone else? I hoping to place order by Monday.

Also, from what I've read, the venice core's could have some issues with boards prior to NForce 4 chipsets. Is this anything to be concerned about, with the ASUS A8V DELUXE, I posted above? Will a bios update take care of it? Also, the same board on ZZF is listed as revision 2.0. Does anyone know what revision the board is on newegg? Is there any difference?

thanks again

Ahh, since you already have an AGP video card you might as well get an AGP board...the A8V is nice, very stable. MSI's K8N Neo2 Platinum if you really want to OC (but the board is a pain in the ass).

1GHz FSB? Am I missing something here (unless they mean the 200FSB x 5HT)
