I'm interviewing with FTI Consulting this coming Tuesday. Im trying to prepare for this interview and come up with questions I should be asking, to have a better understanding for myself, and to impress the director. Im interviewing with a few companies to see what my other options are besides the company I work for now. So Im fairly new to this game.

Here are some questions I have come up with thus far:

Will this department be growing in future years?

Why has this position recently become open?

What types of functions would I be doing on a daily basis?

What type of supervision will I have and will I have resources within the office to learn from?

Can you tell me about the recent acquisition of Higher Dynamics (company), and how will this acquisition affect the tax department and my job function?

Additionally, could you guys please enlighten me with other important and essential questions I should be asking.

And will the director ask me about salary requirements? If so, what is the best approach to this without being lowballed or scarying the company away?

Any input will be appreciated, thanks!!!

Those are good general questions... try to ask specific questions to the role they are trying to hire you on. If they're bringing you to do a certain project/task, be sure to ask something about it and in your question try to incoporate how your experience with can benefit them.

Or "What happed to the person who did this job before me?"

is it a newly created position or was he promoted, fired, downsized, quit, etc.

How long has the position been open and what are you looking for in the right candidate?

How would you describe this company's work environment?

Can I expect to be evaluated periodically? On what? By whom?

Can you tell me what kind of things a typical new hire does in the first 3 months? 9 months?
What are some typical day-to-day activities for [insert your job title]?
Can you tell me what the typical career path is like at this company? How will my performance be evaluated?
Can you tell me what a typical project is like, from conception to end?
What are the expected work hours? (DO NOT ASK HOW LATE YOU CAN COME IN)
DO NOT ASK ABOUT SALARY. Only ask the HR person after you have received the offer.

Any hot chicks work here?

QFT. That's the only question you should ask.

If they say "A bunch!"

you say

"When can I start".

That's a TERRIBLE idea. Large-company office romances are not the worth the potential trouble they can cause. The only way you should leverage chicks at work (in a non-professional sense) is have them introduce you to their friends outside of work. So YES, get to know the single women at your company, but do NOT make moves on them.
