I need to write a ten page research paper on a specific aspect of American culture from 1830-1945. Virtually anything goes within that time period. Ideas?

I was thinking about that. At least I'd have enough information.

How about Communist membership as an American subculture?

I doubt I'd find any information on that.

The only sources I can use are books and articles, not non-article web pages.

I'm taking a City and Suburban America History class that covers this time frame. It's boring as hell but if you are feeling brave look into industrialization or suburbanization.

If you choose this I can give you the titles of the books we are reading.

You can talk about the Chinese American presence during that period. You can talk about the immigrant motives, methods, life, culture, integration of chinese culture into American, some of the race issues, the diseases, the sub-culture, popular culture, population demographics, growth, urban growth, the contributions, food, the perspectives of non-asian americans, and the perspectives of the chinese themselves, etc.

The emergence of the Automobile
