Help me Choosing a Decent HD please

Hey guys,

My 200gig Maxtor HD has crapped out on me (again!) so i have to return it to manufacturers whish are now Seagate... but thats off topic.

Anyway although i am sure they will find it faulty and replace i am considering buying a small i.e. 80 - 120gig HD to use as an OS drive. When the 200gig is returned i can use this for data.

My question is which brand and model should i choose for the smaller drive?

Trying to spend as little as possible whithour compromising quality to much!

thanks in advance

Also a good solid SATA drive, the 80GB WD JB has a smaller bang for the buck @ $50 shipped.

I bought that exact drive from newegg not too long ago, and it has never given me any trouble. Quiet, fast, cool, affordable. If 80gb is enough, you cannot ask for a much better drive than that one.

doh ! i forgot to mention that it would be a SATA drive 🙁

thanks for the suggestions though guys, i was torn between Seagate and WD - will have a look at what prices i can get those for in UK

thanks again for the fast help
