I hope this is in the right place.

Anyway I got my dad's old server and want to upgrade it.

It is a dual capable motherboard and a single Intel Xeon 2.66Ghz cpu.
Should I upgrade to a new mobo and Intel P4 Dual Core single cpu at 3.0Ghz
or should I just get a second Xeon 2.66Ghz?

In other words... is (2x) Intel Xeons @ 2.66Ghz better than (1x) Intel P4 Dual Core @ 3.0Ghz.
What would you pick?

My friend says that I could get a Intel P4 Dual Core 3.0Ghz with mobo for about $200-300 after rebate

Thanks ahead of time.

It all depends on your budget, and which memory type you're using. Right now, Fry's is selling the 805 dual core with board for $130, but it requires ddr2.

2 cores at 3ghz is greater than 2 cores at 2.66ghz..go for the dual core, but get the 930 over the 830, smithfields are flamethrowers.
