^ this, update it with the latest patch and download the SoC complete 2009 mod, you wont be disappointed.

Also try F.E.A.R. it's a game changer when it came out.

F.E.A.R. (no idea on the expantions, never played them.

Far Cry 2 - just bin it, not worth the time to install personally

Peggle Extreme - felt like 20 minutes of game play, not even worth putting it on the list.

Titan Quest - if after a good Diablo clone

Torchlight - for sure

Warcraft 3 - proberly a bit dated.

Warhammer - if you want a strategy, I recon the one I played was worth doing again

The rest I have either not played or do not think they are worth the effort to install.

If you haven't played it before, my vote goes for Deus Ex. But, go ahead with STALKER: SoC, too.

If you've got it and the expansions, it's hard to go wrong w/ Civ IV, as well.

That's a lot of games, dude, and you're probably not going to get much of a consensus on anything.

I can only suggest games which I have actually played, and I know are good:

Amnesia
F.E.A.R. (And its expansions)
GRID
Metro 2033
Penumbra: Overture
Resident Evil 5
Super Meat Boy
World of Goo

That's all. STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl is good, but I haven't played very far into it so I can't say much. It's a damn hardcore game though, extremely challenging, so if you're looking for a real test then check out the STALKER games.

Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Should play this.. really a great game.

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box - Got bored after an hour

Hitman 2: Silent Assassin - Loved it

Hitman: Blood Money - Loved it

Hitman: Codename 47 - Good game, but horrible(Read: No) save system.

Machinarium - Great time killer with a sweet story.

Max Payne - Known for it's cheesy dialogue and great gameplay.

Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne - Worthy sequel.

Prince of Persia - Is this the 2008 one? Extremely easy and boring, did not enjoy this at all. Sands of times, Warrior Within and The two thrones were much better and enjoyable than this.

Sniper Elite - I enjoyed it quite a bit.. need to be really patient. Best part of this game is when you hit a head shot.. the camera follows the bullet and its bloody as hell.

World of Goo- A must play.. really innovative and challenging.

From what I've played on that list relatively recently:

Braid - wasn't a massive fan, too much of that lateral thinking business. 😉

Bully: Scholarship Edition - I think I got bored of Rockstar games after Vice City.

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box - excellent with some perseverance. I thought it was awful the first few times I played it but it really grew on me. Went all the way to getting the Elite license and then some.

Empire: Total War - rave reviews, but I apparently don't have much patience any more as I didn't stick with it too long.

GRID - fantastic racing game; fun and not overly serious. Even better if you have a wheel.

Gyromancer - If you've played any of the Puzzle Quests, you've pretty much played this one. I had it on XBLA, didn't play it for that long if I recall.

Machinarium - I wanted to like this but, meh. Would prefer to play Beneath a Steel Sky for the 4347th time instead.

Monkey Island 2: Special Edition - if you've never played Monkey Island 2, you should really do something about that.

Peggle Extreme - I played this for quite a while but ultimately it's too random for me. I prefer my puzzlers (if you can call it that?) with a bit more control.

Puzzle Quest - Thought it was the b*llocks when I first played it, but the novelty soon wore off and it became incredibly repetitive. Puzzle Quest 2 is more of the same.

Red Faction - my memory of this game is my PC crashing after 5-10 minutes into every game without fail (which was a documented issue around the Interwebs). Not sure if they fixed it.

Saints Row 2 - I remember when this came out I thought it was just a poor man's GTA IV, but I was utterly wrong. This game is GTA when it was still fun, with big explosions and ridiculous missions. Definitely give it a try if you've never played it.

Sid Meier's Civilization IV (& co.) - wasn't able to get into Civ IV... was able to get into Civ V (to the detriment of my sleeping quota). A lot of people still love to play Civ IV so probably still worth a look.

Super Meat Boy - seems alright, but refer to the patience statement from earlier.

The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition - again you NEED to play Monkey Island if you never have done.

Torchlight - pretty good hack 'n' slash, but since I've always got bored of this kind of game pretty rapidly, this one went the same way.

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, Warcraft III: Frozen Throne - definitely play these, fantastic RTS.

World of Goo - thought this was ok, but Armadillo Run is my weapon of choice when it comes to building puzzlers.

Can probably give some more ideas of things to play if you're looking to pick any more up.

"Warhammer® 40,000™: Dawn of War® II

Warhammer® 40,000™: Dawn of War® II – Chaos Rising™

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Dark Crusade

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Winter Assault

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War Gold Edition"
Seeing you have the all series why don't give this a try. I mean i loved them from start to finish.
Also how can you call yourself a gamer and haven't played Warcraft 3 and the add-on ?

Amensia is good and quite different to most games you will play.

FEAR has a good atmosphere but gets boring and repetitive quite quickly.

After installing STALKER I found it so shoddy and unfinished that it was offensive. Complete load of crap.

Fortress Forever - its a free team fortress modification for the half-life 2 engine

Deus Ex - good game, but the graphics are dated, very dated. Wait for it to go on sale.

Metro 2033 - great idea for a game, great graphics, but the gameplay seems jerky. The maps are pretty much straight through, but its easy to overlook exits. Wait for it to go on sale.

Titan Quest: Immortal Throne - if you liked diablo II, then you will probably like titan quest.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl - hard game, great graphics, great atmosphere, some of the exits to the quest are not very clear, do not be surprised if you end up trying to find a walk through.

Maybe might actually play the DoW series since I picked them up on a THQ package sale for super cheap. I always love a good RTS. Should I start from the beginning or start off on part 2?

Doesn't really matter. The first one plays more like a traditional RTS, the second one plays like Company of Heroes. Both are awesome.

amensia, burnout paradise (it is actually REALLY fun) i was surprised by how much entertainment I got out of it

I also recommend Red Orchestra. The sequel is going to come out soon and you mgiht want to try it out. Its an amazing game.
