Help me choose from these 2 laptops

Essentially I've got two choices in my price range. I've considered for a laptop to be used for light gaming (WOW, occasional CSS etc.) and surfing the net.

Here are the candidates...(I've only got general info but it's the most important anyways)

1.
CPU: T2250 (Will it be enough or a bottle neck with the graphics card?)
Memory: 2gb
Graphics: GO 7900 GS (512mb)

2.
CPU: Turion TK-57
Memory: 2gb
Graphics: 8400 GS (256mb)

Righto. I'd like to hear some opinion on what games you think these 2 systems could run at the best (not that I dream of playing Crysis lol) to give me an idea. Thanks already.

#1 without question. Better CPU (C2D) and better graphics (7900 will blow the doors off the 8400GS).

My guess is it will play almost anything you can throw at it, even Crysis (at reduced settings).

Actually the CPU in #1 is a Core Duo (1) but that doesn't matter that much since the 7900 GS is MUCH better than the 8400M GS

Good catch there OSx86, I was about to say that the first one had what appeared to be a Core Duo identifier. Of course, I have no idea about anything else about the chip... silly new numbering scheme

very light gaming? Go with #2. I would take #1 if I don't have any PC at home and use notebook everyday.

Even though it's "only" a Core Duo it will still be better than the AMD processor. If you don't care much for battery life or portability then option #1 hands down.

I concur!

#1 is old skool... ;)

Ahh, but old skool isn't a bad thing Vin ;). The only areas the AMD processor will have on the Intel chip are 64-bit support, and lower power consumption, although I'd imagine the OP wont have any serious considerations to that if he goes with option one anyway.

Even being older technology the Core Duo is still the better performing processor, and it's far from a bottleneck to that graphics card.
