Help me choose Dell 2001FP or Dell 1905FP ?

I was worried that 1600x1200 was too small on the 2001FP, but when I got mine it doesn't seem too small at all to me. It's just right for that size of monitor. I was previously using a 19" LCD at 1280x1024 and although there was a noticable difference, I didn't bother me at all. Even my wife likes it and she hates small fonts.

I'd choose the 1905FP. The biggest difference is their native resolution. One is 1600x1200, the other 1280x1024. Letters in 1600x12 is rather small but you display more content on the desktop. I rather have bigger letters.

You can change that with the DPI or whatever that thing is in Display Properties

With LCD, if you change to a non-native resolution, you'll get significantly reduced clarity on text.

Well you're not changing the resolution just bumping up the size of the fonts

You can but it doesn't work on some webpages.

Yea, i've used 1600x1200 before on my 19" CRT previously and it was fine 😉
I'm sure it wont be an issue with a 2001fp. hopefully i wont have one with the screen door effect

I have a 2001FP and absolutely love it, it does have USB ports but I never bother using them since my Dell Desktop has so many ports anyways. 1600x1200 resolution is very nice, I can't stand any lower on this size screen, it drives me nuts.

Another vote for 2001FP

all of them will have a screen door effect

it has more to do with the design and is not a defect since all of them will exhibit this behavior though you will probably get used to it
it is only side by side with a 2000FP that you can really tell

and in response to your other question
i am looking for about $540 local pickup for $540 + shipping but i am really looking for a local buyer because it would be a pita to go back to my parent's house and get the box and package it up

It's tempting 😛
Physically are they different from the 2001FP ? Or same specs dimension base etc... USB Ports and such ? just different panel ?

no USB ports base is a little bigger , bezel is thicker, no USB ports

has 1 DVI, 1 VGA, 1 S video and 1 composite like the 2001 FP

you can only tilt it up and down and not left and right and the height does not adjust
also you can't rotate it to make the screen longer vertically (1200x1600 display)

imo the tilt left and right is pretty nice, and I can see where you might want the height adjust but I never use it

Out of those two, get the 2001FP.

I'm running my laptop screen (15") at 1600x1200 and I hate having to go home to a 19" CRT that will only do 1280x960 🙁

Confused

yea decided to go with teh 2001FP 🙂
...nice! Got to sell my 19" before I can buy that lovely 20".
