THIS IS AN OLD BUILD I AM EDITING, IGNORE PRICES NEXT TO PARTS

Was getting event 41 reboots (kernel power loss) so I went ahead and replaced my old Corsair GS600 PSU with a Cooler Master G750M Bronze. Issue went away then came back (might be my mobo as this is a known problem on x58 boards [IMC/bad capacitor?]), anyways I plan on replacing the motherboard (just buying a new one since its out of warranty), the reboots aren't why I'm making this thread.


I recently RMA'd the GS600 that was sitting around, and they sent me a Corsair CS650M Gold as a replacement. I'm wondering if with the components I listed, would the Cooler Master G750M Bronze thats currently in my system, be better? or the new Corsair CS650M Gold that I just got?


If the performance/stability increase isn't substantial between the two, then I'll just go ahead and sell that new Corsair CS650M Gold and replace the failing motherboard with the money since im strapped for cash :sadsmiley


PS: this build is going to be single GPU for the foreseeable future. No planned upgrades except mobo+cpu in a month or two (to fix my random reboots).

Why would you be buying those old parts for a new build??

I'd go with the following instead:

Intel i7 4790K

Asus Z97 Motherboard

16GB Kit DDR3 (2x8GB)

Western Digital 1TB Blue Edition 7200RPM 64MB Cache

Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD R9 390

Windows 10 Home or Pro

And your Corsair power supply is plenty for this build.

It'll be the same price as what you are looking at but MUCH faster!!!

Ahhh, now that makes more sense!

I'd still go with the Corsair Gold model over the CoolerMaster. It's a better overall power supply in both efficiency and quality.
