Here is what I need for an MP3 player

1) SMall

2)Lots of storage

3) HD or Solid State

4) has to use AA Alkaline or NIMH rechargeable batteries- I use it when I go up fishing in Canada and we have no electricity up there :)

how many batteries are you going to take? :)

i was going to suggest the Nomad Zen, but it's got a built in Li-Ion battery.

I just got the 128mb version of this from best buy, and the thing rocks IMO. It's small, very light and I think I paid about $130.00 or so for the 128mb version. You probably can find it cheaper online I'm thinking? You should definately check out the IRiver line of mp3 players, they get good reviews.

Just as small the the iRiver players, uses AAA, same features. The bonus is that it has an SD slot so you can add more memory unlike the iRiver players (256MB SD card for $46 from dell)

Concidenlty I am selling mine, i have the 128MB version. LMK if you are interested, only selling cuz i got the new iPod :D:beer:

I have an MP3 player made by digital square (128MB only :() Yeah whatever, I got it quite cheap (second hand deal). What I like about it, it can be used as an USB harddrive (quite small, though) if you need it. And the software is absolutely amazing - easy to use and not bugging.

No votes for the new iPod yet?? WTF? Can't wait till I get mine (have to wait for little sister to order it with her university discount or a Dell deal...)

EDIT: oh...regular batteries...

Unless you get an ipod or other equivalent hdd mp3 player, you're going to be doing a lot of song swapping. I like my minidisc player myself... get some minidiscs, and you can make collections for you mood. I have some for the gym, and some for driving, some for listening in bed, etc... and all i need to do is swap the disc.

MiniDisc isn't a bad idea at all. If you don't mine making all your music mixes beforehand. MD discs are super cheap so you have have a ton of music. Many MD players only take 1 AA battery and have awesome battery life. The discs are in cartridges so there is just about no skipping. They are small as well.

Sony NetMD player for $149 w/ accessories (NetMD will allow you to record music faster than realtime, which was a problem w/ older MD models)

Yeah, battery life is good.. i use the rechargable battery that came with it, and i only need to charge it once a week... and that's with about 1-2 hrs of usage everyday at the gym. So i'll say it lasts a good 10 hrs with the rechargable battery.

I haven't needed to use a 1aa battery yet... but i'm sure that can go 30+ hrs easily.
