Help me choose an external enclosure for my HD

Hey folks, this sucks but I need to recover files from this Hard Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148469.

The drive doesn't bootup anymore (this is another story) so I believe I will need to access the HD through a USB external enclosure. So my question is on this page: http://www.newegg.com/External-Enclo...92?Order=PRICE, which will work with this particular model of HD? Is there a particular specs I should look out for? I don't have a good concept around SATA, SATA II...etc...so compatibility is important to me.

Is there one that could work with both 3.5 and 2.5 drives? Later, I might want to do recovery work on a 2.5 laptop drive...you know, I just want to kill two birds with one purchase.

In order to handle both 3.5 and 2.5 HDDs, you probably need a HDD Docking Station. This is one example. I believe Vantec makes one for USB 3 now.

All the enclosures I've seen so far require external power adapter... If I go high on the price range, is there something powered solely on USB?

Not that would handle a 3.5-in HDD. A separate power source provides much better reliability than USB.
