Help me choose a Ti4600. :I

Hello, Im interested in buying a TI4600, the two cards I have my eyes on are a MSI G4Ti 4600-VTD and a Visiontek Xtasy TI4600. The MSI scores better in tests and I believe both cards use the same encoder chip. Which would be the better deal? My friend loaned me his Xstasy TI4600 and I love it, would the MSI be a better choice though? The MSI scored a bit higher here:

I have a Visiontek Ti4600, and it's fine (except for a rattling fan that I took care of 😀).
From that review, the MSI has better RAM (2.8ns vs. 3.6ns) so it should overclock higher. The difference between the two cards is insignificant and well within the margin of error, so I wouldn't sweat 1-2 FPS in a benchmark.

What are the details of the rest of your system so we can possibly recommend a different card or a better upgrade for your system.

if you are spending more tahn $100 on either card you might want to look into getting a 9600Pro for a bit more and step it up for better image quality and DX9 feature set.

DX9 is virtually useless on this class of cards IMO, they just don't have the horsepower to use the effects that well at all.

albatron was making some quality cheap ones
but i suggest that if you ever wanna play 1600x1200 atleast wait a month to upgrade
or just get something with dx9 atleast

How much are you paying for the TI4600? I agree, if you're buying this retail and new, it might just be better to get a 9600Pro.

It wont be new, this is something to keep me going until pci express takes off, then i'll probably just build a new machine entirely. There are better cards out there for sure but I always wanted a Geforce 4, I have a Geforce3 TI500 now (Visiontek) and it runs a little slow compared to the G4... Was just wondering if there were any real difference between these two models.

MSI should be the preferred choice as it has more features, softwares etc. Also, it scores a little better than the visiontek one
