I'm looking at these two speakers for my computer. I'm running onboard sound from an Asus A8N premium motherboard. Could you help me decide which one would be the better buy.

X-530 ($65)
Z-5300E ($130)

I'm not an audiophile but I also don't want to short change my games. If there are any other speakers I should consider let me know :).

Thanks

Amplifier, I am in the same boat you are. My build is all complete but I struggle over which system to get. I have researched both systems heavily and for quality the 5300e is better then the 530s easily.

They will do fine with your gaming. From what I understand a 5.1 configuration is game friendly. Now if you were playing music that would be a different story because Logitech doesn't supply tweeters and the mid-range is weak.

Do me a favor and PM me on what you decide and how they work. I'll be out of state all next week and so I don't want to order and me not being here to receive. Thanks.

The Klipsch 5.1 Ultras can be found for around $200 now retail in places like Best Buy, so you could audition that, although certainly it's a bit more expensive.

A buddy of mine has the Z-5300s and he loves them. He bought them mainly for gaming and they do sound awesome. Another friend of mine had the Klipsch 5.1 setup. Both systems sound great, but imo the z-5300 is a slightly better buy.

I've made a post or two about this but its been a while since I bragged.

I have the 5300's and I love them. I too am looking for good gaming sound but dont want to enter the audiophile realm of thousand dollar Home Theater setups.
Have to say that the Z-5300e's are now an AWESOME deal for the money. Excellent sound quality (for a non-audiophile) good power and a very reasonable price.
You will not find anything close the power and quality provided for that kind of money.
If you think you might be an audiophile the go ahead and splurge for the Logitech 5500's or the Klipsch 5.1 Ultra. Though I am wondering if Astralite is putting me on. I doubt you can get them for a mere 200 bucks. But if he's right I may have to do a little shopping.

Anyway, the only thing lacking in the 5300's is digital decoding, but if you want them for games it doesnt matter.
However, if you live in a small apartment or dormitory and want something low-powered, the X530's are really good for a weak 5.1 setup. You are unlikely to find a comparable low-end surround system.

Wish they were that cheap here:(. Only place I can find them has them fir $500 CDN ($450? US). Anyways, 5300es are definately higher quality than the 530s especially for the price.

if your not an audiophile, go save your money and buy an X-530. There's not much point in getting a very top of the line sound speakers if your staying with onboard. I myself bought the X-530 and it's pretty good for the price

The 5300 has a tweeter?

Hah, I was gonna post the same thing.

But I thought it would be mean to inform him that his sats didn't even have a tweeter.
