Cann't decide between these boards ,CPU and mem
a)Abit IC7-G, read the whole review here only bad thing was the location of ide ports
b)Asus P4C800Dlx doesn't have Serial ATA Raid .
c)865PE Neo2-FIS2R offers lots of features .

Cpu :- Between 2.4c or 2.6c only couple of dollars difference .

Memory:- Kingston Hyper X (1GB) or Corsair XMS. If anyone has the same setup please feel free to comment. How wasy to overclock , configure Bios.

Thanks

Of those I would go Abit

For CPU get the 2.6C

and Ram Corsair is still #1 by far, but I went with Kingston Hyperx as I got a deal on it.

Any reason you choose Abit instead of Asus. I will see if I can get a deal on corsair (TWINX1024-4000PT) or thats the wrong memory . The one I should be getting is 3700. I went to corsair site and it said it can go upto DDR500 but Abit board doesnt support that.

Is there a that much difference between getting a dimm with black or silver heat spreader. Also Abit doesn't have Raid for Ide only for SATA, is there a big performance difference between Ide and SATA. I will using this system to play games , doing photoshop so need a faster read/write but the drivers I have (2x80GB) segate. They only have 2MB bufffer .

Thanks

Abit seems to be better overall esp. in overclocking.

As for Ram, PC3200 or higher Cosair will be fine.

And SATA is a little faster then IDE, that and all the SATA drives I have seen have the 8mg buffer, so that will help also.

The P4C800 deluxe DOES have SATA RAID built in, as does the 865PE P4P800 deluxe, which is another board you should seriously consider given the negligible difference in performance between the two.

Both mobos have multi-RAID options (IDE & SATA) as the links above will show.

As far as the mobo is concerned, my vote goes to ASUS.

The choice of the CPU is a no-brainer, go for the 2.6.

Generally I prefer the Asus P4P800. I have one, it rules. Though I don't OC...

Corsair does better in the benchies, though. The 2.6C isa no-brainer.
