Help me choose a sectional/corner couch

I recently moved into Manhattan, where my current couches don't work with the layout of the apartment. I've been researching sectionals, and made a trip to Ikea over the weekend, but so far haven't truly committed to anything. I've also browsed several different online places but so far nothing has jumped out. The problem is that the layout of my apartment doesn't allow much flexibility in couch/tv setup.

I'm trying to find a sectional where I'd have a seat directly facing the tv, while the rest would go along the wall. As can be seen in the image, The shorter portion of the couch can't really be too far above 70" without blocking the walkway to the kitchen/door. Also, as much as I love it, leather is probably a bad idea since I have cats (unless my soon-to-purchase cat tree will keep them happy).

I like black/brown/etc for a couch, no white/red. I'm trying to keep the price of the couch as low as possible without sacrificing too much quality; there's no way I'm paying over $2k for a couch.

Examples of couches I found from IKEA that I like:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40205373 (pretty new, didn't have in-store)
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S09846778 (damn comfy, but worried about kitties tearing it up)

Anyone have any suggestions, or places to check out around Manhattan?

Palliser looks nice, but cursory pricing checks seem to place it around the $2500 mark, which is about $1k more than I was hoping to spend. Still, I'll keep digging in this direction.

There definitely needs to be a corner couch here for when there are guests, as well as when the GF and I want to curl up together and watch a movie. Recliners are nice, but I already have a damn comfy chair and ottoman opposite where the couch will be.

Screw couches, just get a couple recliners.
This. We have an odd shaped entertainment room that we put a corner couch in, and I wish we hadn't. It's uncomfortable when you have a lot of people over...if 2 people are sitting near the corner, their legs are right on top of each other. When it is just me and my wife we can't both lay on it, since our feet overlap at the corner, so for us it's really a useless piece of furniture, and it takes up a ton of space. I wish we had gotten recliners, we probably will replace this monstrosity once we decide what to do with it.

It might work for you, since it sounds like you just want to be sitting forward on one end and laying on the rest, but if you have people over often it's not the best setup IMO.

I understand this point, but two recliners definitely don't add the same comfy feel; this isn't solely a media room, it's also my living room. A couple recliners would also limit my total number of guests to 2 (three seats total), which isn't ideal. Basically I'm pretty sold on a couch for my given apartment, since I need *a* couch and there is nowhere else to put it.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what stores I should be checking out in the NYC area? I've already looked at IKEA, Ashley, Overstock.com, Jennifer Convertibles, Bob's Discount Warehouse, but am not sure what other places have something quality for under $2k.

We got this set from Rooms To Go. You could leave the Chaise off and even leave the ottoman out.

I don't think there is one in Manhattan though.
