Help me choose a new LCD TV for my bedroom.

I just got cable TV, and oh boy have I become lazy. I used to have a little 20 inch flat-front CRT TV in my living room, but since getting cable and repeatedly falling asleep on the living room couch, I've moved the TV and digi-box to my bedroom. But my living room wants its TV back.

So, can anyone recommend a nice little 20-24 LCD TV for $400-ish or less and maybe a decent sounding (at low to moderate volume), compact HTIB with at least one (hopefully more) stereo aux input for less than $200? The new stuff will be going in my bedroom, which is already full, so the svelte look is a plus.

I don't really care whether the TV is wide-screen or old-school. In fact, old-school is still better for regular TV, IMO, just not movies, but I literally don't care either way.

Yeah, I'm lazy. Give me some opinions on your favorite electronics that you might bu if you were in my position.

BONUS. If you help me, and I buy something that you recomend, I'll actually update the thread give you a public thank you for your advice.

I don't know what your definition of svelte is, but would something like Klipsch iFi seem reasonable?

Two analog stereo inputs + ipod docking station + remote

This set has been ~$200 in the past, but I'm not sure if you can get them for that much anymore.

Thanks.

Rossman, you're awesome as always. I had no idea that a 27" could be had for that little now. That's great. I won't forget to look at your site as well. (What's with the *****? Did they put your site into the swear filter? If so, that sucks.)

YOyoYO, I don't think that's exactly what I'm looking for. (I don't even have an ipod yet.)

I'm looking for more of a DVD system that also has an input for the digital cable box so the sound can run through the HTIB speakers. A radio tuner would be a nice bonus.

Well, I'm off to start my research. I realize you all aren't going shopping for me. Just getting ideas to think about.

$100 - $200 for a system including a DVD player is going to be a POS.

Are you trying to get 5.1 going for this amount or just 2.0/2.1?

For 5.1 check out ShopOnkyo and wait for a deal on the Onkyo 590 set ($150?), then add a DVD player of your choice.

Well, I've been doing a little shopping.

Getting that Onkyo 590 system is virtually a done deal. It's on sale brand new this week for $250 + tax at Circuit City.

I was messing around with the Onkyo in a CC store and came away very impressed. Nobody was very interested in helping me while I was there, so I was able to listen to a few songs from my favorite radio station all the way through. It sounded pretty decent to me. I didn't hear any major flaws that turned me off. It was easily better than any of the Panasonics, Sonys, and Pioneers that had smaller speakers. It also had a lot more inputs than other products of its type. When it's that much better than anything else I had in mind, it seems like a bargain at $250. I'll probably pick it up tomorrow if I don't find a significantly better deal online.

Thanks a million for the suggestion.

Also, I'm strongly considering the Zenith 20" LCD EDTV Monitor (Z20LCD1A) from Circuit City. (EDIT: It's currently on sale for $279.99.) Looks like exactly what I wanted for my bedroom for a lot less money than I expected. This seems perfect. Unless there's something better for the same money, or something similar for less.

Give me a reason not to just go for it and pick this stuff up tomorrow. I dare you! ;)

Update: I bought them.

No MF evah gonna be reading this, but I like these components just fine. Very affordable, not that great--noticiably not that great--but exactly what I needed, and no heartache looking at the bank statement.
