I have a budget of about 500$ give or take a bit and here is my current build.
AMD FX-8350
16GB RAM@1600
MSI R290
Samsung 500GB SSD
WD Black 1TB
750Watt Thermaltake PSU
running at 2560x1440

Ive narrowed down my cpu choices to these.....
i5-4690K
i7-4790K
i7-5820K
Skylake 6700K

Thoughts?
Being that ive had AMD the past 10+ years and am somewhat unfamiliar with Intel I am also taking suggestions for motherboards as well.
Thanks!

Why not the 6600K?

Why not wait a month and see what other models of skylake will appear?

I assume OC since you want K models.

6600K or 6700K with a Z170 board that supports DDR3. That limits your options somewhat. But still a good selection.

I'm not sure if I can do this here, but I have a like new i5 4690k + asrock extreme3 for $310 shipped. Bought last Christmas and only used to show system works. Upgraded to z97 sabertooth and i7 4790. Still have boxes and warranty

$500 for the CPU or for your entire upgrade? Will you be selling your old parts and, if so, can you use projected proceeds from that to upgrade your system?

If you can afford it, 5820K is a no brainer IF you plan to overclock. If not, then I'd say go for the Z170 + 6700K. Gives you lower platform cost, better ST performance by quite a bit, and solid MT perf.

Yes for the CPU and motherboard but the number is somewhat flexible so if its over 500 bucks its fine.
As I posted earlier this will be my first Intel build and I am somewhat confused as to what type of mobo to get if I decide on the 6700K and want to reuse the Ram I have now instead of buying new DDR4.

A 6700k and a mobo supporting DDR3 would be the ideal upgrade. All other parts could be reused. You could even grab a 2nd 290, assuming your PSU is in good condition and quality.
