Help me choose a LCD

Hello everyone,

I've been LCD shopping lately and have narrowed it down to these monitors. They are all 19" monitors. My main interest of the monitor will be for gaming.

- ViewSonic VX922 2ms response and 650:1 contrast

- Samsung 940BF 2ms response and 700:1 contrast

- Samsung 940BX 5ms response and 1000:1 contrast

- NEC 90gx2 4ms response and 700:1 contrast

Please feel free to give suggustions other than the ones I listed. I'm just looking for some feedback before I buy. Thank you.

I don't own the 940BF but I was at a lanparty and they used them. Seemed good, no ghosting or whatnot.

I don't have more knowledge of it than it looked fine when I saw it.

Well I've pretty much lowered it down to these two

- ViewSonic VX922 2ms response and 650:1 contrast

- Samsung 940BF 2ms response and 700:1 contrast


I'm leaning toward the viewsonic because it has an almost flawless "5 egg" review on newegg from over 1000 people. Anyone want to put in some input? Thanks.

I'd easily pick the NEC 90GX2 of those 4.

A lot of [silly] people have issues with the glossy finish, but if you compare the NEC side by side any other 19" LCD out there, i guarantee you the contrast between colors/graphics/images will be better on the NEC.


And yes, i have seen the NEC side by side a lot of other 19" LCDs (though not the Viewsonics), since we have many at werk.

The samsung will give you better blacks and picture quality due to the contrast ratio. IMO, they smoke any other LCD out there image quality wise. And 5ms is easily fast enough.

lamere does have a point. Most everyone can't see any ghosting at 5ms
