Help me choose a laptop.

I'm looking to buy a laptop very soon. Here are my requirements:

Centrino, Pentium M 1.4 - 1.5ghz
4 hours battery life (a little less is acceptable)
Able to do some gaming. Currently looking for ATI 9200 64mb or better.
No more than 7lbs.
DVD ROM

Widescreen (preferably)

Hard drive and RAM aren't too important, I can upgrade those later. 256 mb of RAM and a 40gb drive is fine. It would be nice to have a widescreen display (possibly WSXGA).

I've been looking at the Compaq X1000 and the Dell Inspiron 8600, they are both a little on the expensive side right now though. I've also seen the 600m, the only thing that turns me off is the lack of widescreen.

Any opinions are welcome.
Thank you.

Gateway M505X. If you have a AAA membership, you get 10% off bringing it to 1350. 50 bucks over your limit but well worth it.

Or, if you want a widescreen laptop, get the PowerPro 3:17. It's 100 dollars more than your limit, but good luck finding anything with similar specs for such a low price. 3:17

It's made by Asus, unlike many other laptops (like dell and compaq), so the quality is good.
Don't worry about buying from PowerNotebooks. Just look at their reseller ratings. Ratings

Fight - That's a nice book. Configured with a 40 gb and 512 Ram and a wireless card it's another 100 bucks. Although I don't own the Gateway, I've played with it enough times to see that it comes fairly stacked right out of the gate.

Btw, the 3:17 is a rebadged Asus M6N is it not?

I know for a fact that the M505 is a powerful notebook. I just posted a widescreen notebook because he said he preferred widescreen 🙂.
And yes, I believe it is the M6N.

While the powerpro 3:17 looks pretty nice it would end up costing a bit more to get what I needed with it, such as wireless and an OS.

The Gateway does look like a nice system, could you explain the AAA membership to me?
I would only be interested if I could get the price to what you said.

Thanks.
