Wow, that looks like it's going to be a ...fun.... course :)

So long as the book gives you a good foundation, and it's not written by Walter Savitch, I think you'll be ok considering all the stuff you've been required to take up until this class.

We get our choice of Java, C++, or C#, or RESOLVE/C++.

We were debating on C++ or Java. Only reason we chose java was because one of the guys in our group is Java Cert.

Either way, it will have to get done and still require lots of work, :(.

Actually, the C++ book is the only one that Deitel/Deitel actually wrote. So, it's good, but the others suck.

Core Java 2 (Volume 1 and/or Volume 2) by Horstmann is an excellent book. It's Sun Microsystems Press.

For this class Syllabus giving description hmmm?

Try the tutorials at <a href="http://www.htmlgoodies.com">http://www.htmlgoodies.com</A> and <a href="http://www.devguru.com">http://www.devguru.com</A> also. They're very informative. If you must get a book, get the Deitel book. Wanna buy mine? :)

I may be able to get a deal on both the C++ and Java book if I purchase together from this one local campus book store.

I can't stand the Deitel series of books, but that's just my opinion.

What did you not like about them. I would like to know? I just want to get me a good solid book to use as a reference.

The author's are a father and son who take turns with each chapter. They write and explain in different ways so in my opinion and most of my class a couple of semesters ago, we agreed it didn't flow very well. The book had some good info, but it was harder to find. I used interent references when I needed hep.

Then there is a 2-3 hr lab most likely.

No lab. This is our CIS weed course (besides 321). This project is to be done on our time. Rumors from previous students who have taken this class say the work load is un to 20 hours a week. Most of it is the documentation that supports our code.
