Hey,

My coppermine is running at 107 degrees (not overclocked) and I would like to cool it down a bit. 2 of my memory slots are filled so I can't get a super big heatsink. BTW, my mobo is an Abit BF6.

So what are my options? Thanks.

Are you using a non slotket FC-PGA? If so, get the Agilent Arcticooler. It will be out in September. When it comes, you can get it at http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/index.htm?522 If you don't want to wait, get the Alpha PAL. I can't remember the number that comes after PAL. I think it's the PAL6035. You can get it at 2cooltek also.

Alphas are good heatsink, but they're huge.

You might want to try RJDJ heatsinks.

The K601 socket cooler has pretty good performance. The best thing about it is the small size (won't take any memory slot).

Or you can try their FCPGA cooler. I'm not sure about the size though.

If you have an FC-PGA on a slocket, get the Alpha PEP66 designed for the slocket. It takes up 1 Dimm MAX and doesn't take up any DIMM slots on alot of mobos. This cooler has the best performance of any FC-PGA cooler. ~$32 bucks online.
If you have a Slot 1, the Alpha P7125 should also be good. But you may want to check on this, I am know very little about Slot-1 cooling. This cooler is the bigger brother of the PEP66.

Thx for the suggestions everyone...

I heard from some other people using the PEP66 that it takes up 2 DIMM slots on their BE6-II so I didn't take the chance.

Instead, I got the golden orb and the Arctic Silver Thermal Compound from 2cooltek.

I'll post my results soon! :)

<edit: yeah, it's a FCPGA chip on an IWill Slotket.>

Golden Orb is a good choice. I'm running them in 2 of my boxes and they are nice. Fairly quiet and no RAM slots taken up. Dropped my CPU temp about 10C from retail cooling.

Go for the Golden Orb.
It is inexpensive and a great cooler.
It also looks cool.

I'm just confused why my 700E with Cb0 stepping heats up that quick with the retail heatsink/fan.

I mean, my 500E never went above 100 Deg F when overclocked...
