If I'm going to get a Xbox 360, I was figuring I might as well get a nice HDTV to go with it. Here are my specific requirements though since I have limited space in my room. I only have about 24-27 inches of width to fit a tv in. Right now I have a basic 20 inch tube tv. So I'm thinking a 19-21 inch TV is all I can probably fit. I am also thinking that I am going to have to buy an LCD TV since they are the only ones that make HDTV's at that small of a size. Can anybody suggest me a decent TV at a decent price to handle the HDTV capabilities of the Xbox 360? Links would be great! Thank you!

I think you'll have to get an LCD. The smallest CRT HDTV I really see is about 27" tube size. You might have trouble finding an LCD that small that will do 720p - you might be limited to what local places have in stock. For brands, I'm a fan of the Sharp Aquos line.

Stay away from the Dell W1900. I dont know about the other sizes, but the one I have has lag (atleast from component cable from PS2). Impossible to play anything but possibly an RPG.

I've been looking at smaller HDTVs myself, and I was considering the Toshiba 26HF84. 26" widescreen, the whole unit is slightly more than 27" wide. I don't know what kinda video ins/outs the 360 will have, but this TV has an HDMI connection. CRTs still give the best picture quality and have the longest life. I saw it in store today and it had a great picture to it.

Buy a 2005FPW.

LCD TVs 20" and below are ripoffs. They suffer either from having low resolution (why would you want a 20" LCD TV that only has 640x480?), being crappy quality, expensive, or some combination of the above.

You should be able to snag a 2005 for about $400, which will be a better price than you'll get on most LCD TVs, and it'll be better quality.

It's funny because even before I read your post here, I went out and bought this exact TV. The Toshiba 26HF84. I was amazed that Toshiba actually used their heads and put the speakers on the bottom of the TV rather than the sides to save space. It works out perfect for me since I have around 27 inches of clearance for my area, and this tv is about 27 1/2 inches wide and only 77 pounds.

My question is will this TV work good with the Xbox 360? It's an HDTV monitor, but it doesn't have the tuner built in, does that matter? I understood that the tuner is only needed for HD digital cable and not for things like the Xbox, is this true? Also, what does HD Xbox run at? Because I know this TV does 1080i, but isn't the Xbox 720p? If so, will this TV support that? Thanx!

HDTV monitors do not have HD tuners (ATSC) in them, nor do can they decode digital television. They rely on external devices to do that for them.

Xbox games are natively widescreen 720p. Most likely your TV will convert the incoming 720p signal into 1080i. It will still look great. Just use the component video hookup cables (if for some reason you bought a Core system you'll need to buy these separately) and you should be fine.

I know this probably won't fit, maybe you could make room? I LOVE MY 26" SAMSUNG DIGITAL CRT HDTV!!!! THAT'S RIGHT!!! DVI DIGITAL!!! ON A CRT!!!!!!! I'm playing DVD's off a LG upconversion DVD player, Star Wars Episode III looks AMAZING in 1080I, with perfect response time, contrast ratio, and pixels that are just sooooo small. I sit about 5-6 feet away, and I couldn't ask for anything better. Only 1 problem, it weighs 89 pounds.

I think most ppl looking for an actual TV would probably opt for hdmi over dvi/vga inputs, though you probably have that as well

You do realize at that screen size upconversion does hardly anything and that the native resolution of DVD's are 480i....right?
