I'm getting a new Video Card in about 2 months, I Have a Athlon XP 3200 Barton and 1 GB or RAM, whats a good match for a video card I think I want a 6600GT but not sure I would like 256 Bit beside that I want something that will last and be alot better then what I have a Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro 256 MB.

I was also looking at the 6800 GT but might be abit to pricy for me

Whats a good match without making my CPU a bottleneck

Thanks for your help !

does this come in AGP ?
Yes, although they're over $300. I'd get either a 6600GT or a 6800GT, depending on what resolution you run and how much AA\AF you want to run.

I was loking at the 6800 but it only has 12 Piplines I would really like 16 if I can swing it, this will be the last video card I buy for this computer so I want it to last.

Ah, you are from Canaduh too :)

The X800XL is on average just barely behind the 6800GT in performance, though it's ahead in a few games.

Since i know here in Canada you'll never find a 6800GT for even close to $400, go for the X800XL.

I would've myself too, but it came out after i bought my 6800GT.

I'm more than happy with the performance of my computer in my sig, and it's maybe 5% slower than the same rig with an A64 3200+.

I'd go with a 6800 over a 6600GT personally.

What about between these 2 X800XL VS 6800 at the same price? I think the 6800 only has 12 pipes and the X800XL has 16 pipes.

and the X800XL is a ATI card where as the 6800 I was looking at is a Leadtek.

Where aboots are you from ? I'm in Ontario, Peterborough

Yeah the 6800GT I've seen are about $600 and the X800XL are around $400 so right there I'm thinking of the X800XL I'm going to do my research first. I can get a 6600GT for about $300 whould that be a better deal then the X800XL price preformance ratio ?

If you do your research (as you say), you'll see the X800XL is pretty close to the 6800GT (on everything except D3, anyway). Good buy for the $400CDN, compared to the cost of the 6800GT in Canada. A 6600GT isn't likely to last you very long (realistically, the 6600GT is only about 50% faster than your current 9600pro at the kind of settings you could use with it, except in D3 again of course).

Well I think even though I love ATI, I'd have to go with the 6800 GT. I just see a lot of happy users with that, and that some clock it to ultra easily. Nothing is wrong at all with the x800 though also a very good card.

You're from Canada right?

D00d, that link is for the horrible crippled 6800GT with only 128 MB that would get raped by the X800XL.

Here in Canada, there is absolutely no question that the X800XL is a far better buy than anything nVidia has to offer.

Oh noes, stay away from the X700s.

If you want to save some coin, look @ the 6600GTs, not the X700s.

Yeah, agree. The 6600GT is the best mid-end card. It gives me quite solid performance in Battlefield 2 in 1024x768, with everything at Medium and with 4xAA. :)

LOL - Canada is Ati's turf, no wonder they're more competitive there...

A 6600gt is a decent midrange card, but it's no match for a x800xl. The 6800gt is slightly better than a x800xl, but not enough to justify a $200 price difference - that's crazy. If the difference drops to more like $30, I'd get the 6800gt, but otherwise you pretty much have only 1 reasonable choice - a x800xl.
