Hi to all,

I'm not into monitors. They have a plethora of options you select from. My wife keeps telling me that she needs a 120 Hz or 240 Hz monitor so that she can game better. I keep telling her that the monitor refresh rate has nothing to do with performance. Her friends keep telling her that the only thing she is lacking is the monitor speed. Maybe she is not able to see the action once it is executed because the monitor is not refreshing as fast as needed. Anyways, the conclusion is that I need to buy a monitor although I don't really need to ^^_^^. My wife is using my 2nd machine. The current monitor is the Dell u2412m. I tend to select my hardware carefully. You can see that this monitor was one of the best at its time. It is got some good reviews.

So while I want a monitor with a faster refresh rate than my current one, I don't want to go low on other specs. The PC is old but still a very decent one. It is running 2700K CPU, ASUS GTX 1080 graphics card, 32GB Ram, and a 256 GB Samsung 840 Pro as a boot drive. 27 inch is the preferred size as I can't go higher due to space limitations, but 24" will suffice.

Please shed some light.

Thanks.

This looks like a good choice:
ASUS TUF VG27AQ

An IPS panel with 165 Hz and good overall performance, but it is little expensive for my taste. I wonder if I can find a similar one with a better price.

That Asus is more because it supports Gsync. If your wife has an Nvidia video card, she will love the choice.

Well, I ended up buying the
Acer Nitro XV273X

It is 240Hz with an IPS panel which is good. It is got good reviews. A bit expensive but it is fine.

I'm waiting for it to arrive !

I have two ~10 year old AOC monitors that I'd like to eventually replace with something that has:

A) speakers
B) 2 HDMI inputs
C) $100 or less price tag

So far, I haven't found anything on sale that meets these 3.
