help me choose.. 512ddr pc2400 or 1024ddr pc2100?!?!?

all depends what you do on the computer, video editing, Photoshop then go for the 1 GB, just games...... 512 MB will fill you up enough.
 
both are totally excessive and most likely useless. espically with ram prices as high as they are now. Why not buy 256 megs now (2400 if you wish), and upgrade later when it gets cheaper?

not a bad idea. if you're in win2k or XP, go into the management console, and start a log which logs your ram usage. check it after using your computer for a while (doing things you "normally" do), and see how high your ram usage was. get the next highest increment of 256MB of ram.

at least thats what i would do, 🙂

mm....i just ran photoshop, opened about 20 images, and started filtering away, and it took up about 80 MB of ram. my total ram usage was around 200MB. maybe youre talking about using photoshop while youre running max payne or something???😉

right now i have 512mb ddr pc2400 and my friend can hook me up with 2x 512mb ddr pc2100 for super low! so i was wondering if i should go ahead and do it... and i actually do video editing and photoshop, but i do more work with video... and A LOT of games.. 😀
 
Atleast 512 MB if your using XP, I ran 256 MB for a long time I use to get so argervated with exiting games and then having to wait for the ram to be released. Things are just so much smoother with 512MB.

Only have 256 ddr on my xp. I was content with 512mb sdr before i went ddr now the prices are somewhat high.

Draedogg: I am running XP. My mem usage hovers around the 150-200 meg use. Right now i have 320 megs of ram, and 144 megs area available.
