Firt of all happy new year and here are my specs:

MSI K8N Neo 2 NEW
3200+ Win NEW
X800XT
Kingston Hyper X kit: KHX3500K2/1G
Audigy 2
2 Hdd
2 Opt
1 floppy

I had a whole long list of pros and cons that I was going to write up, but it really comes down to which case would you prefer for the above system. I plan on doing some mild overclocking and have a Zalman 7000A-Cu from my last build.

I already have the 1080 which is 2 years old and the Sonata (impulse " hot deal" purchase) which I can still return. Another wrinkle is that I also bought an OCZ 420 Surepower as a replacement for the 430 Truepower in the 1080. The older 430s only have 20A on the 12v rail. The True 380 that comes in the Sonata has 24A on the 12v and is currently powering the above hardware at stock speeds with no problems.

Option 1: Return the OCZ and keep the Sonata and "retire" the 1080

Option 2: Put the OCZ in the 1080 and return the Sonata

Option 3: Put the OCZ in the Sonata and "retire" the 1080.

Thanks and drink lots of water before going to bed to ward off the dehidration brought on by comsuming excessive amounts of alcohol.

Happy New Year.

I think it mostly comes down to style and to a lesser degree noise. The Sonata has that nice rubber mounted hard drive rack, which reduces seek noise, plus the 120mm fans are an advantage. The 1080 is a much larger case and uses thicker metal which gives it a very substantial feel. The cooling is better than the Sonata, due to the open case front under the bezel, although it uses louder 80mm fans.

I vote for the 1080 with some mods to reduce hard drive noise and some Panaflows to reduce fan noise.

Good luck.

Yah, I'm finding that I'm surpisingly attached the the 1080. I was hoping somebody would convince me it was a big, ugly, heavy POS that belongs in a closet.😀
