Help me buy a UPS! cant decide @_@

You need to shop for one that is attuned to India's A/C power. Your linked selection would work according to the literature.

yes exactly, the most ive been able to find for a conventional ups is 850watts in india. if youre sure that the option i linked will work just fine for me then thats good enough.
if any other indian here could post any alternatives that would be welcome......about 15 mins backup would be good.

Are you getting 3 Titans? Because if you aren't getting something like that, you aren't getting a 1200 watt pc. Getting a 1200-watt psu is NOT the same as getting a 1200 watt pc and you wouldn't be drawing 1200 watts unless you got the equivalent of 3 titans and OCed a ton. And if you AREN'T getting a 1200 watt pc, we need to know what you are actually getting to recommend a unit.

Ill be getting 2x R9 290's, ...., so could you give me an idea what the power consumption would be at full load? ,
2x 290's , i7 4770k and ASRock Z87 Extreme4
 
I'm sorry for the off topic, but for the love of the gods, get a better motherboard under there. The Extreme4 is not but I'm 90% certain you'll regret not going for as Asus Hero at least!!!

As for the UPS, I own two APC branded and they are very stable and pretty powerful when the power is out. Much MUCH better than some other UPSs I've used in the past, and have never let me down in years (and by that I mean they've never cut the power for no reason when the power goes out - forcing a reboot - and of course never let power surges damage the equipment.

Under 700 at Furmark full load if you don't OC. Add another 100-200 if you do. But no matter how you OC, you will never get that rig anywhere near 1200 watts.

well then a 1000 watt psu and an 850 watt ups looks the better way to go in that case......but the 850 watt apc is more expensive, probably because its newer.

maybe is should still get 1200 if i plan to buy a third 290 in the future? (atleast a year and a half down the line if i can save up enough. and anyways it would be futureproof for my next build~4-5 years down the line? )

Btw ive decided to go for asus crosshair V formula Z and fx 8350, since theyre cheaper and i can fit the second 290 into my budget right away.....
 
If you don't plan on getting 3 GPUs, a quality 850-1000 watt is plenty. The watts isn't as important as the actual unit you plan to get. So what model PSUs are you looking at?

I should add that a quality 850 is actually more than you need: I overestimated. Anand's bench puts a pair at 665 watts at Furmark. Furmark is basically as much power as you could possibly draw out of those cards (so normal and even heavy OC without running Furmark won't touch that level of power.)

So the question is, do you plan on overclocking either your GPUs or CPU? If you don't overclock anything, you can get away with a 650-watter. If you do, an 850 is more than safe.

i will be OC'ing everything......so okay ill get a 1k watt psu.......but the ups?? xD

just want to confirm once that YES the ups i posted initially will work for me.
 
It'll work. I doubt you'll get 15 mins out of it if you OCing heavily. The bigger concern is which PSU you are getting because if you get a no-name one, that won't work.
 
Well for UPS units there are actually two things you need to look at. The first is the load that it can handle (i.e. watts), and the second is the length of time it can handle that load (i.e. VA or KVA). For 15 minutes of power at around 850 watts, you will need on the order of 3000 VA. That said, a computer won't be running full power unless you are doing something on it at the time like gaming.

I have a APC 3000VA unit myself which I have powering 2 monitors, my cable modem, router, wireless AP, gigabit network switch, and main computer (only a single Nvidia 670 GTX video card, Intel I7-3770k, 16GB RAM, 4 disk RAID 5, 2 SSD). It lasts about 20-25 minutes if I only have 1 of the monitors on and was not playing a game.
