well, i am still selecting components for my sister, just in the mobo debate... asus nforce, or ECS... ECS cheaper, Nforce better... tough decision.

but that's not why im here today :)

i got some money... around 600, and some time on my hands, and will be getting more money in the future. im looking to build myself a computer.

what you guys suggest?

i'm thinking a r-9700 PRO, a XP 2500+, and a Asus Nforce 2 based mobo. think i can swing it for under 650? if so, how?

I just built exactly that system, except my video card is a non pro. I had to wait for the drivers for the motherboard and video card to mature just to get it running. It was a boat anchor for about a month and a half.

Now is a good time to build a rig like that. As to the price, <$650, I don't know how you'll swing it. You probabally want faster memory and a bigger power supply.

I second that deal that RossMan pointed out.

Dell had that pretty good deal for a system w/ LCD monitor for under $500 a few days back, but it's expired. So, if you can wait, hold out for a deal like that.
