This is my first build since 2001, when I was a freshman in highschool. I don't remember how I even did that but I figure if a jackass 9th grade version of me could do it, I can figure it out now.

1. budget 800-1000 +$250 Gift Card from tigerdirect.com
using this as my desktop compliment to my acer aspire one laptop. I want to play games and generally kick ass.

1. Power supply would like to keep power supply+case at $150 .. is this possible? I would also like to get it at tiger direct because of my gift card

2. Case see above

3. Motherboard ASUS P6t $232.50 after ebay cashback. I decided this board would be best so that I might upgrade to dual sli video cards in the future

4. CPU i7 920 2.66 $225 after ebay cashback plan to overclock

5. Heatsink/fan for the CPU help me find a good cheap one

6. Memory Corsair XMS3 TR3X6G1333C9 6GB DDR3 Triple Channel 34256 $193 after ebay cashback - is this the best option for my memory? I need opinions

7. Primary hard drive Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 1TB Hard Drive - 7200RPM, 32MB, SATA-300, OEM $110 at tiger direct - i picked this because it was the best available at tigerdirect for the money

8. Primary optical drive NONE - Dont ever use an optical drive;have an external one just in case

9. Video card Viper Radeon HD 4870 Graphics Card 198 after ebay cashback ... do you have a better idea?

10. Monitor(s) ? use one i have and upgrade later

11. Mouse/keyboard -not needed

12. Operating System not needed

7. Video-capture card and/or TV-tuner card -would like to have but will just get later if it doesnt fit into the budget

So we are at
$850 including processor, video card, motherboard, and RAM.

This leaves us with a $250 gift card for my case, power supply, an hdd. I am willing to spend a little more if it is smarter to do so.

Originally I was just going to use the gift card towards my processor, but i figured it would be better to get it on ebay with the 25% cash back business. If you think this is stupid I would like to hear why.

I have the CPU, Motherboard and RAM you list and I must say...you should really consider spending the extra $60-70 on DDR3-1600 chips. If your focus is on gaming and/or SLI and you don't want to go the much cheaper Core 2 Duo/Quad route, then you will need to overclock that 920. To that end, with the limited memory multipliers offered with that setup those DDR3-1333 chips restrict your overclocking options quite a bit.
