Hey people I need help! I am building my very first AMD System, actually it?s for my brother and I don?t know which Processor or Motherboard to go with. Unfortunately I have a $200 budget (does not include shipping and handling) I was thinking of going with either the MSI K7T Turbo or EPoX EP-8KTA3 for the motherboard, and either an 850mhz Duron or 750mhz Tbird.

I might overclock the processor sooner or later, I?m not sure yet? If I do it?s not going to be of great amounts. But I sure as hell want the system to be fast and as stable as a Server, the computer will be used mainly for gaming, a bit of word here and there, downloading, decoding and encoding mp3s, and of course pr0n viewing :D

So what do you guys think I should get? For the motherboard, should I get MSI K7T Turbo or EPoX EP-8KTA3? And for the Processor should I get an 850mhz Duron or 750mhz Tbird. Oh and another thing, what?s a good cooler to use with one of this. And what about the best video card, NVidia or Ati?

Welp let me know people! And thanks in Advance???..

How's the MSI Motherboard? Is it stable? Any problems? I heard it's slower compared to ALOT of other TBird motherboard due to not being able to support 4-way non-interleaving... Is this true? Oh and what video card you using.... Let me know and thanks for the response...

I keep hearing that the Asus 133a is the one to go for.. I have an asus, non 133a though.. and it's stable and good.. the 133a rocks though.. I'de get the thunderbird over the duron, the larger cache is good to have..
200 dollars though? just for the mobo and cpu?
A good heatsink.. alpha pep66 (loud) thermaltake FOP38 (loud)
taisol cgk good too..
I'm getting the alpha.. see ya.

Iwill has had a couple of really good reviews, including here at Anadtech. Anantech, of course, raves about the stability of MSI. Tom's Hardware also liked both MSI and Iwill. There seem to be some unhappy Iwill owners on these forums though, but maybe even a few unhappy Asus owners. GamePC.com just did a comparison that showed MSI as the most stable, but the slowest because it lacks the memory-interleaving feature, and there's some question when they'll add it. The 'News' area of Anandtech is a good place to find other reviews, and so is www.pcnewscenter.com , www.aceshardware.com has a series of articles on the KT133A chipset that sites memory-interleaving as very important for performance.

I'm still just reading reviews, trying to decide what to buy. The review sites seem to be given carefully chosen samples for review. Is there a "Consumer Reports" for home builders ?

Welp looks like Iwill just replaced EPoX. So.... Will it be Iwill or MSI? MSI doesn't support 4 Way Interleave but I heard somewhere that they will soon =)
