Here's what I have so far:

MB: Tyan Thunder K7
CPU: AMD Athlon MP 1.2Ghz (2)
Memory: Corsair PC2100 DDR SDRAM (Registered) - 1Ghz (256mb x 4 or 512mb x 2)

I need to decide on the HDD. I'm not sure about whether to go with SCSI or IDE. I'm also not sure about the video card. I plan on doing some CAD work / dv editing / etc. so I'll need a card that can handle those apps.
Any suggestions for a case? Cooling? I was also thinking of an LCD monitor - any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

lol....uh well here i go again....get 4 or 5 x15 cheetah drives...i got the 18gig ones i am gonna et up a raid 0 array with them but with atleast 4 drives 0+1 or raid 5 would be possible...and that would give even better performance then these drives have alone...which is really good...and supply you with data protection also...if thats important to ya

Why would you even consider IDE with that setup?

Money can't be an issue with what you have spent already. Get the Seagate X15-36lp's (the newer version) SCSI.

Why get the thunder and not the Tiger MP S2460? Do you need the integrated dual lan and/or want an integrated SCSI vs an adapter? What about the special power supply?

Video card for CAD? How about one of the Oxygen series?

DV?

I am using the Pyro Platinum; but if you want/need real time performance then look at the Canopus Raptor RT, Pinnacle DV-500, or Matrox RT2500.

Have you considered the Tyan Tiger K7 MB?

It sounds like you won't be satisfied by the integrated graphics on the Thunder, so you'll be getting an AGP card anyway.

You didn't mention to much about your server requirements, but there isn't much reason to go with the integrated NICs unless you're planning on lots of other cards or a 1U case.

And if you decide to go IDE the integrated SCSI controllers will go to waste also.

Finally, the Tiger is about $200 cheaper, has very slightly better performance, and uses a standard (read cheaper) power supply.

As for the memory, I would go with 2x512MB. I've heard that the 760MP boards can get a little dicey sometimes with all 4 slots full.
