I've decided to build myself a new P4 rig to overclock. Problem is, I haven't followed the whole P4 thing since they came out. So I need a little help when picking my overclocking rig :)

Here's what I've thought of so far (I already have a few components spare so I will only list the stuff I'm buying)

- Enermax 430w ATX Power Supply, 2 fans, quiet standby, speed control, , 8 HDD, 1FDD, P4

- A Lian Li PC70USB full tower case

Motherboard is where I get a little stuck. DDR or RDRAM? Both seem to be a good option now, with DDR overclocking better but RDRAM providing better performance at the same speed. Especially as you overclock higher.
I've heard nothing but good reports on the ASUS boards so I'm going to go with one. The two I'm looking at are

- Asus P4S333 Skt478 P4 ATX DDR board, SIS645, 3x DDR, 6x PCI Audio
OR
- Asus P4T-E P4 I850 Skt478 ATX Motherboard, 4x RDRAM, 5x PCI, AGPPro, Audio
The SIS based board weighs in at over $100 cheaper for me. (AU dollars)

I'm looking at a 1.8Ghz P4 as it seems to be a good buy for the price and has a guarantee of a being a better part to o/c
I'm tempted to change that to a 1.6 though.

I'm looking for suggestions on a HSF as well as anything else people can think of.

Thanks in advance!

Go for northwood 1.6A or 1.8A (Socket 478) are sure to OC 33%+ with only retail HSF. My cousin has the "Asus P4B266" (DDR, Sound) and reccomends it thouroughly. Features include these. Go for DDR ram, most new motherboards support it, and remember..its Double Data Rate man, upcoming games will require 512, but if you have DDR u will still have over the reccomended specs :-D The HDD and Case seem sufficient, and please....dont take my opinions to the heart too much..wait for more replies.
